- Noninvasive and inexpensive
- Accurate laboratory analysis
A good night's sleep helps keep your body in rhythm, allowing you to feel your best. Without it, your body doesn't function as well or as effectively.
A hormone called melatonin may affect your sleep. Melatonin levels are at their highest in your youth. When you reach adulthood, your levels often decrease dramatically.
Since the rise and fall of melatonin regulates your sleep patterns, having proper melatonin levels supports the body's natural ability to induce and sustain a healthy sleep cycle. SleepCheck measures your melatonin levels helping you get back in rhythm and back to sleep, naturally.
SleepCheck measures the level of melatonin in your system. Although it plays a role in many other areas of your body, such as cardiovascular function, female reproductive hormones, and as an antioxidant, melatonin's primary contribution is to your body's ability for quality sleep and the regulation of your circadian rhythm.
How to Collect Saliva for the Sleep Test
Rinse your mouth with cold water. Spit out water completely. Wait five minutes. During collection, do not cough or clear your throat into the collection tube. If necessary, you may chew the sugar-free gum to stimulate salivation.
8AM collection: Using one of the collection tubes, collect your saliva. It is important that you provide at least a 3/4 full tube with LIQUID, NOT FOAM. Insufficient saliva samples cannot be processed.
Make sure you replace cap tightly to prevent leakage. Write your name and date you collected sample on the label and the Health Screen Request Form. Place the label on the collection tube. Place the tube into the plastic biohazard bag and refrigerate sample.
12 Midnight collection: Repeat the collection procedure described in Step 2, using the other tube. Replace cap tightly on tube to prevent leakage. Write your name and the date you collected sample on the label. Place the label on the tube.
Place the tubes into the biohazard bag provided.
Enclose the biohazard bag, along with the completed and signed Health Screen Request Form into the return box provided. Place the box into the prepaid mailing envelope and mail as indicated. Plan to return your samples on the day of collection. If you are unable to do so, refrigerate samples overnight and mail the next day.
